Background[]
Daniel Rey was born in 1963. This is the husband of Kristi and father to both his teen-aged daughter, Ali, and infant son, Hunter. His only main appearance in the Paranormal Activity Series is in the second installment. He has brief cameos in the third and fourth installments of the franchise.
Throughout the story, he is shown to be a rational, successful man (possibly a corporate manager of a franchise) with no spiritual background making him the main skeptic. When his wife, Martine, and his daughter try to warn him about unusual things happening in their household, he dismisses it as nonsense or as a joke until something unexplained happens to his wife, Kristi.
Story[]
In March of 2005, he uses his camera to tape the construction of a new room and telling Hunter through the camera about how he got his room which he prospectively would have one day watched when he was older. He tapes his wife Kristie who is pregnant with Hunter at the time painting the room. Katie visits and request to store tapes and various old belongings from their grandmother in their basement which he gives her consent.
On August 11, 2006, at 10:00pm, everyone is out for the night except the housekeeper, Martine, and baby Hunter. The demon haunts the house while Martine babysits Hunter. Martine very aware of the evil presence and grabs baby Hunter, begins to pray while performing an act cleansing the house from the evil spirits. Daniel and Kristie catch her in the act and have no idea of any events that took place prior and asks her to cease what she is doing saying that he does not believe in "that stuff".
On August 12, 2006, he dismisses Martine. His daughter, Ali, was upset with him for firing Martine whom she considered a friend.
When his daughter finally shows him a tape of Kristie being attacked, he calls Martine saying he should have listen to her. To his relief, they come up with a solution to save his wife. He uses the cross to exorcise the demon within her, burns a picture of a young Katie, forcing the demon to follow, haunt, and torment her in place of his wife.
Two months pass. On October 9, 2006, the day after Micah was killed and Katie is fully possessed by the demon, she comes to their household during the nighttime hours and snaps his neck killing him; kills his wife, Kristie; and kidnaps Hunter. Ali comes home to find her father and step mother dead and Hunter missing.
